The Disney Saga Continues with Frozen

Disney adds a new twist to a classic tale in their newest film Frozen. Beginning with the classic theme of a princess-in-need-of-her-prince-charming, this latest Disney masterpiece ends with a fresh new perspective, suggesting that love can be expressed in more ways than one.

A fearless, quirky, and determined princess of Arendelle, Anna (voiced by ‘Kristen Bell’) sets out on a quest to find her sister, Queen Elsa (voiced by ‘Idina Menzel’) whose uncontrollable ice powers have put their kingdom in an eternal winter. Along her journey, Anna seeks help from a rugged mountain man Kristoff (voiced by ‘Jonathan Groff) his loyal reindeer Sven, and a comical snowman named Olaf (voiced by ‘Josh Gad). This crew battles the snowy conditions and obstacles that come their way in order to help Elsa and save the kingdom of Arendelle.

This movie manages to keep a sense of a classic Disney fairytale, but also keeps the viewers on the edge of their seats. The audience is filled with tears one minute, then bursting with laughter the next. Whether it is a seven- year- old or a seventeen- year -old, the film seems to warm the hearts of everyone watching. We even found ourselves crying at one point and laughing more than some of the young kids around us.

Not only is the plot fantastic, but the music makes it even better. We found the songs stuck in our heads the rest of the day. One of the songs, “Let it go” by Demi Lavato, made it to number one on ITunes. It even beat Beyoncé’s new soundtrack on the Billboard Charts.

Frozen has grossed at $713 million worldwide since it opened November, making it the studio’s biggest hit since The Lion King. It’s no surprise this film won a number of awards including “Best Animated Film” at the Golden Globes. It has also received Oscar nominations for best animated feature and best original song.

Frozen easily deserves a 9 out of 10. In fact, this is one of the best movies we have seen in a long time. It captures the true meaning of family, shouting out that nothing is impossible when you have people who love you by your side. Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have created a timeless film that will be touching the hearts of viewers for years to come.
