HHS Band Performs for Class of ’89 Reunion

Select members of the Hopatcong High School Band performed a medley of American Military Service Marches for Hopatcong’s class of 1989’s high school reunion, at the Jefferson House on September 27th.

Alumnus Gagan Dada contacted HHS band director Kurt Zimmermann to help plan the surprise performance, to honor members of the class who served their country in various branches of the Military..

“It was a joyous performance,” said Dada. “The band played while we reminisced of our youth. The veterans were extremely surprised and impressed by the talent that exists within the walls of Hopatcong High School,” he added.

According to Zimmermann, “It was hard to keep a group of kids showing up anywhere a surprise, but we met in the parking lot after the guests showed up, and we warmed-up and rehearsed in the parking lot near the water.”

Zimmerman pointed out that the band ended up entertaining restaurant customers, as well.
