Marching Chiefs March Down the 76er’s Court

On January 28th, 2015, if you happened to be at the Well’s Fargo Center for the Philadelphia 76er’s NBA game, you would have seen an interesting sight. More than two hours away from home, Hopatcong’s very own Marching Chiefs performed the pre-game show for the 76er’s.

The Chiefs performed a shortened portion of their “Black, White, and Warped World Tour,” playing the “Welcome to The Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance and “The Time Warp” from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Drum Major, senior Cassidy Sandry and Mr. Kurt Zimmermann lead the Chiefs through their energetic performances.

This is the second year the Chiefs have performed at the 76er’s game. Last year the Chiefs did not have the pre-game show but instead played outside in the atrium. However, the Chiefs received the promotion this year and performed on the court due to their previous successful performance.

“It was exhilarating,’” said Sandry. “We were projected on the overhead for all the crowd to see.”

The Marching Chiefs are not limited to the Varsity football game halftime show. The Chiefs have also performed at the Somerset Patriots baseball game and marched at the Sussex County Fireman’s Memorial Day Parade.
