10 Hopatcong National Honors Society members, under the direction of NHS advisor Mrs. Lisa Kenny, worked untiringly last week, putting together 13 Thanksgiving baskets to be distributed throughout Hopatcong. The holiday baskets represent the culmination of another successful food drive whereby HHS students generously gave in individual classrooms.
According to Mrs. Kenny, the community had a need of 13 baskets this year. The surplus canned goods have been stored for delivery on Christmas and for Stuff the Bus, slated in the spring.
Mrs. Kenny, who has headed the food drive for the past 27 years, praised Hopatcong for its community involvement. “Every year the Hopatcong community comes together with generosity, “said Mrs. Kenny. “ They never cease to amaze me because they’re extremely generous to help out the people who need it. It makes my heart full that I am working in a community where they are so eager to help out,” added Mrs. Kenny.
National Honors Society members include Jessica Alvarez, Madison Garrett, Anthony Christiana, Amanda Corujo, Justin McCarthy, Kaitlyn McManus, Rachel Estevez, Andrea Fattorusso, Tara Nixdorff and Breanna Maurer.
